Feel like yourself again.
Gentle standing movement that fits the day you have – and keeps you moving for the years ahead. No mat or experience required.
Ten minutes a day, standing up, in whatever you happen to be wearing.
Sound familiar
The tiredness is new. Not the kind an early night fixes, but the kind that is there when you wake up. You notice your shoulders by mid-morning. You notice the stairs.
Nothing is wrong. But you have begun to wonder what the years ahead will feel like. Qigong asks very little – slow, deliberate movement and breath, standing up. Ten minutes that lower the dial instead of adding to the list.
What a daily practice can do
Small movements, in the places the week collects.
Slow a racing mind without asking it to sit still and behave.
Build strength and balance gently. No impact, no lycra, no getting down on the floor.
Steady energy that lasts throughout the day.

茶馆
Qi gong cha guan – the qigong teahouse
Who teaches it
Welcome to the teahouse.
A teahouse is somewhere you stop. It is not a gym, or a studio with a timetable you have to keep up with. It is a room you step into, slow down in, and leave steadier than you arrived.
Qigong Teahouse is that idea, built for people who have no time to visit one. Classes and guides are taught by instructors certified by the British Health Qigong Association, the UK body for health qigong instruction.
“I have found your approach to teaching to be inclusive, patient and knowledgeable. The depth of your understanding is clear and it shows in your sharing.”

Before you ask
The questions people have.
Is qigong exercise, or is it meditation?
Both, and neither, in the way those words are usually used. It is slow, deliberate movement paired with breath. You will feel it in your legs and shoulders, but you are not working out. You are not asked to sit still or empty your mind either – which is precisely why it suits people who cannot.
I am not remotely flexible. Does that matter?
No. There is no stretching to get into, nothing held, and no floor work. If you can stand up and breathe, you can do this. Every movement can be done seated if standing is difficult.
How long does it take to feel anything?
Most people notice something in the first session – usually that their shoulders have dropped and their breathing has slowed. The steadier effects on sleep and energy tend to come with repetition rather than duration, which is why The Opening is seven short days rather than one long one.
What if I miss a class?
The movements are all in the video library, so you can catch up on a quiet evening and come back the following Thursday.
Can I cancel the membership?
Yes. The Teahouse runs month to month, with no minimum, and you can cancel at any time. The Teahouse Courtyard asks for three months to start, then runs month to month.
Do I have to believe in energy, chi, any of that?
Not at all. Qigong comes with a rich traditional vocabulary, and you are welcome to explore it or ignore it entirely. Everything here is taught in plain English: what to move, when to breathe, and what it is doing.
What does BHQA-certified mean?
The British Health Qigong Association is the UK body for health qigong instruction. Certification means an instructor has been assessed and holds current qualifications – worth checking for, in a field where anyone can call themselves a teacher.
I have an injury or a health condition. Is it suitable?
Qigong is gentle and widely adaptable, but it is not medical treatment and nothing here is a substitute for advice from your GP or physiotherapist. If you are managing something specific, check with them first, and tell your instructor so the movements can be adapted.
