Welcome to the teahouse.

A teahouse is somewhere you stop. It isn’t a gym or a studio with a timetable that you have to keep up with. It is a room that you step into, where you slow down, and leave steadier than you arrived.

Qigong Teahouse is that idea, built for people who have no time to visit one.

What we teach.

Qigong is a Chinese practice of slow, deliberate movement paired with breath. It is thousands of years old, it asks nothing of your beliefs, and it works standing up in whatever clothes you happen to be wearing.

Most of what we teach draws on sequences such as Ba Duan Jin – the Eight Pieces of Brocade. It is a sequence of eight movements designed to be done in a few minutes a day. No floor work. No equipment. No experience needed.

You will find it here in two forms:

Online guides and practices. Short, structured, self-paced – starting with Burnout to Balance: The Opening.

In person. Every Tuesday morning in Avebury, Wiltshire, and occasional longer workshops.

Who teaches it.

Every class and guide is taught by My, a qigong instructor certified by the British Health Qigong Association, the UK body for health qigong instruction.

She has taught in person for close to 30 years, first in classes across London and Surrey, and now with weekly classes in Wiltshire and Berkshire.

For most of that time she was also a journalist on national newspapers, including the Daily Mail and The Telegraph – a career of deadlines, early starts and the particular tiredness that comes from work that never quite switches off. Teaching movement was what kept her steady through it, and Qigong Teahouse is built for anyone carrying a full life and wanting to keep moving well through the years ahead.

Why this, and not something else.

Because most wellbeing advice is written for people with time. The advice assumes an hour, a mat, a spare room, a quiet mind.

Qigong Teahouse assumes ten minutes, somewhere to stand, and a head that will not stop. Everything here is built for the second version.
